The Museum Gallery Andreas Alariesto was opened in July 1986 and exhibits the life work and production of painter Andreas Alariesto permanently.
MAIN EXHIBITION The Strong Life of Sompio’s Wilderness
Nature dictated the course of life and the tasks that changed with the seasons. Livelihood was primarily taken from nature, with respect for it, and nothing was wasted; everything had its use and purpose. Even though life was sometimes hard and unforgiving, it made people work together and survive despite the demanding conditions. People had a connection with each other in a way that is quite different from the times we live in now.
